About Syrian Air
Syrian Air (Syrian Arab Airlines) is the national flag carrier of Syria and one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East, founded in 1946 with its headquarters and main hub at Damascus International Airport (DAM). It is a member of the Arab Air Carriers' Organization (AACO). At its height the airline operated a network of more than 48 destinations spanning the Middle East, Asia, Europe and domestic Syria.
Years of EU and US sanctions and the Syrian war severely cut that network, leaving Syrian Air with only a fraction of its former routes. Since the change of government in December 2024, Syria has been reconnecting with the world: international flights resumed from Damascus in early 2025, the EU suspended transport-related sanctions, and Syrian Air has been gradually restoring regional and international services, including resumed flights to the UAE and Turkey, and has signed an agreement to acquire new aircraft.
