Emirates launched on 25 October 1985 with just two leased aircraft on the Dubai–Karachi route, growing over the decades into Dubai's flagship airline and one of the largest airlines in the world. Headquartered in Dubai with its hub at Dubai International Airport (DXB), it today operates one of the world's largest fleets of wide-body Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 jets, ranking as the single biggest operator of both types.
Emirates' network links more than 150 destinations across six continents, carrying tens of millions of passengers a year, with codeshare partnerships including flydubai and Qantas. Its Skywards loyalty programme lets members earn and redeem miles on Emirates and partner flights. Emirates was named the World's Best Airline at the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
